Bursary Program in Partnership with Trent University


Bursary Program:
In 2013, Peterborough was the proud host of the Kiwanis Eastern Canada and Caribbean District Convention. Peterborough is in Division 10 of this Kiwanis District and Division 10 consist of the following Kiwanis Clubs: Kiwanis Club of Peterborough, Kiwanis Club of Scott’s Plains (Peterborough), Kiwanis Club of Oshawa Durham A.M., Kiwanis Club of Sydenham (Oshawa), and the Kiwanis Club of Westmount (Oshawa). As a result of a successful convention, it was decided by the organizing committee that the proceeds be put toward a bursary program for first year students attending Trent University.
On behalf of all Kiwanis Clubs within Division 10 of the Eastern Canada and Caribbean Kiwanis District, the Kiwanis Club of Peterborough is pleased to be able to administer a Bursary Program in partnership with Trent University.


The Bursary:
Up to $500.00 will be awarded to the successful applicant. Having said this, the committee reserves the right to split the $500.00 bursary if more than one candidate applies. While we welcome all applications for this bursary from qualified candidates, only the successful applicant (s) will be notified by the selection committee.

Criteria:
The applicant must:
  • Be a member or family member of a Kiwanian who is within the Kiwanis Eastern Canada & Caribbean District. This includes any grandchildren/great grandchildren of a Kiwanian or deceased Kiwanian within this district. It also includes any youth who are members of Kiwanis Youth Clubs such as Circle K or Key club.
  • Be a first year student attending Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario Canada.
  • Include their student registration number at Trent University so that the committee can confirm they are indeed attending and are first year students.
  • Outline why they need this funding assistance.
  • submit an essay of no more than 500 words outlining what Kiwanis has meant to them or their family member and outline what the name is of the Kiwanis Club to which they are associated with. Feel free to include any volunteer initiatives you have undertaken in your community or elsewhere.

Once completed, please email to the attention of the secretary, outlined on the contact page of the Kiwanis Club of Peterborough Web Site. Be sure to include a contact address or location and phone number that you can be contacted at.

APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED VIA EMAIL NO LATER THAN July 31 IN THE YEAR YOU ARE GOING TO BE A FIRST YEAR TRENT STUDENT.
