The Kiwanis Club of Peterborough received its Charter in November of 1921.  Celebrating 100 years in 2021.

Kiwanis is a Global Organization dedicated to serving children around the world.

Since its inception, Kiwanis Club Peterborough Members have provided service to its citizens and the community through many local and international projects. Most citizens associate our organization with the Kiwanis Music Festival, however we are involved in our community much more than just that event.  Feel free to review some of our projects and commitments to our community under the Projects Tab on the main page of this web site.

Throughout the formative years we were proud to be able to sponsor several other clubs who wished to establish new clubs within the Kiwanis Family; Lindsay (1922), Cobourg (1943), Port Hope (1952), South Peterborough (1954), North Peterborough (1958) and Scott’s Plains - Peterborough (1974).

The Kiwanis Club of Peterborough has been a strong supporter of the Kiwanis Organization and have had the privilege of having 17 Lt. Governor’s serve at the Eastern Canada & Caribbean District Level, and one (the late Walter Howell) serve as the Kiwanis International Vice President. In 2018/2019  Lt. Governor Terry McLaren served on the Board of Trustees for Eastern Canada & Caribbean District after being elected Class President for Lt. Governor's.

In order to fund our community projects, Kiwanian’s have had to embark on many enjoyable and sometimes unique fundraising opportunities. We are proud that our community has supported us and our efforts through car & house raffles, selling anything from apples to maple syrup, organizing travelogue shows, fishing tournaments, skate-a-thons, Rodeo’s and purchasing food items at the concession stand/snack bar at the Riverview Park & Zoo.  In 2018  the Kiwanis Club joined the Peterborough Bingo Sponsor's Association which has been a successful fundraising endeavour. All of our funds raised are allocated to projects within our Community, and in support of Kiwanis International Projects.

For 100 plus years, thanks to the support of our members, our citizens and the City, the Kiwanis Club of Peterborough has served our community to make things just a little better. Through service, we look forward to our continued success in building a better community that we can all live in, work in and play in.

We are always looking for new members with new ideas so that we can improve upon our service to our community. If you are interested in becoming a member or exploring the idea of becoming a member of a meaningful service club please feel free to contact us.
